This is a recap of the best and the most popular pop songs released over the past week featuring songs form all your favorite Nigerian music acts. The list is based solely on the stats each of these releases have brought in since they were released.
Burna Boy Level Up (Twice As Tall)
Off the new 15 tracks album, here comes a new song titled ‘Level Up’ which features Senegalese singer, songwriter, composer, occasional actor, businessman, and politician, Youssou N’Dour.‘Level Up’ is the first track on the project.
Lyta – Hold Me Down
Lyta drops his first single under his new home entitled Hold Me Down (Omo Gidi). The young superstar who has been working under the radar for quite a while is now coming with something special to quench this long wait. The accompanying music video for the remix was directed by Director K, the Remix went further than the original song and gave Lyta more exposure. Later same year Lyta released the Afrobeat track “Worry” also produced by Killertunes.
Fireboy DML – Tattoo
While we trying to digest the announcement of his forthcoming album ‘Apollo’ scheduled for August 20, Fireboy DML surprises us with a new track – ‘TATTOO’. This to build more anticipation towards his incoming music project. “Tattoo” is the third single from Fireboy in a row this 2020, a follow up to the recent, ‘ELI‘ and his debut; “New York City Girl“.
Burna Boy – Way Too Big
“Way Too Big” was produced by LeriQ and co-produced by Timbaland, Mike Dean and Diddy; it off his latest 15 track project, “Tall As Twice” album. The album “Tall As Twice” features the likes of Naughty By Nature, Chris Martin, Stormzy and Sauti Sol. With production assistance from LeriQ, Telz, P2J and Rexxie, while Mike Dean, Sean ”DIDDY” Combs, Timbaland, Skread and Jae5 add the spice to the sound.
DJ Tunez PAMI ft. Wikzid, Adekunle Gold, Omah Lay
“PAMI” performed by Wizkid, Omah Lay and Adekunle Gold… After the successful release of ‘Cool Me Down‘ featuring Wizkid, DJ Tunes teams up the present buzzing artistes in the Nigerian music industry, Omah Lay, Adekunle Gold and of course Boss Wizkid once again to serve us another potential Hit! ‘Pami’. The new song Produced by Blaise Beatz is a perfect blend of Afrobeat and the raving Bop sound. ‘You & Bad Influence‘ crooner Omah Lay starts the record with his cool hypnotizing vibe as Wizzy baby took over to show he is still the Daddy Yo that makes ladies Manya. AG Baby on his own part brought the Chemistry between him and Blaise Beatz on his hit song ‘Something Different’ (which we all loved) into play to spice up the new record and turn it into a Bop jam.
Crayon – “Do Me”
Making the most of 2020, Mavin Records’ signee, Crayon, has been putting in work and is clearly on a hit-making mission as he teams up with in-house music producer, Baby Fresh on the feel-good tune dubbed ‘Do Me’. ‘Do Me’ is a rousing love song which sees Crayon requesting to be treated fairly by his love interest.
Burna Boy – “Bebo”
Award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star, Burna Boy comes through with a new track titled “Bebo” taken off his just-released 2020 album “Twice as Tall”. The song “Bebo” is the 4th track off the 15 tracks consisted album.
Dj Cuppy – “Karma” ft. Stonebwoy
Hot on the heels of her video for ‘Jollof On The Jet’, Nigerian artist and DJ Cuppy has unveiled a surprise for fans with the release of ‘Karma’ featuring award-winning dancehall star Stonebwoy, out today via Platoon. Taken from her highly anticipated album ‘Original Copy’, the single is exclusively available now to tease ahead of the full project, due for release on August 21st. Stepping out of her comfort zone and into dancehall territories, ‘Karma’ sees Cuppy effortlessly take to the bashment beat, swapping verses with Stonebwoy, who brings his signature flare to the track. A match made in heaven, the single will leave a lasting impression and have listeners singing “Karma” whatever the weather.
