Please note one of the criterion we used in listing these songs is how popular and successful they are internationally and how much influence they have made promoting African popular music outside of Africa.

Johnny is a single by Nigerian pop artist Yemi Alade, released in 2014, this song’s music video is the most viewed music video by an African female artist on YouTube and most viewed west African music video with over 90 million views.
Yemi Alade’s Johnny is very popular in many African countries and in many foreign countries. Definitely one of the top afrobeats songs we’ve got at the moment. Produced by Nigerian producer Selebobo
Personally – Psquare
Personally” is a song by Nigerian R&B duo P-Square, released as the second single from their sixth studio album Double Trouble (2014).
The music video, directed by Jude Engees Okoye and Clarence Peters, was uploaded onto Vevo on June 21, 2013.
It features a cameo appearance from Osita I heme. Upon its release, the song received positive reviews from many people who were addicted to its catchy beats and lyrical rhyme schemes. As of 2018 Personally is the second most viewed music video by a west African artist.

This is another hit single from arguably Africa’s biggest artist of the moment Davido. Fall is a 2017 single that has gone to reach new audiences and draw more love to Afrobeats. Fall by Davido as of 2018 has over 70 million views on YouTube.
Ojuelegba – Wizkid
Ojuelegba is an Afrobeat song by Nigerian pop artist Wizkid. Ojuelegba became really popular after it was remixed by the American hip hop act Drake and British act Skepta. Ojeuelegba was ranked by many media houses as one the biggest African songs of 2015. Song produced by legendary beatz
Aye – Davido
Released in 2014 by Davido. Aye is a very successful song, definitely one of the songs that shaped the foreign approvals and acceptance of the modern African music. Davido’s Aye was featured by Fader Magazine as one of the top songs of 2014.
Adonai – Sarkodie ft Castro
Adonai is a song by top Ghanaian rap act Sarkodie. Originally released in 2013 featuring another Ghanaian artist Castro is among the top Afrobeats songs that has done Africa proud locally and internationally. With tens of thousands of sales on digital platforms and over 50 million views on YouTube the single by Sarkodie showered a lot of recognition and acceptance of African hip hop.
Come Closer – Wizkid
“Come Closer” is a song by Nigerian singer Wizkid, featuring vocals from Canadian rapper and singer Drake. The song was released as the third single from Wizkid’s third studio album, Sounds from the Other Side.
The single peaked at number 58 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Wizkid’s first charting single as a lead artist. The single peaked at number 54 on the Canadian Hot 100.

Upon its release, the song peaked at number 1 on Top FM’s May Chart, Soundcity’s Viewers Choice, Rhythm FM, and The Beat 99.9 FM’s Blackberry Top Ten Countdown. In addition, it peaked at number 2 on Radio Port Harcourt.

Azonto – Fuse ODG
Azonto” is a single by British Ghanaian singer-rapper Fuse ODG, featuring vocals from Itz Tiffany. The song was released in the United Kingdom as a digital download on 29 September 2013. The song peaked at number 30 on the UK Singles Chart and at number 38 on the Scottish Singles Chart. The song has also charted in the Netherlands. The song was written by Nana Richard Abiona and Tiffany Hayden.
Do Like That – Korede Bello
Do Like That is a 2016 single by Nigerian artist Korede Bello. Do like has been a huge success internationally than it is locally. The song audio and video has over 100 million views on YouTube Do Like That is one of the most streamed Afrobeats songs on music platforms across the internet if not the most streamed.
Skin Tight – Mr Eazi
Skin Tight is a song released by a Nigerian-ghanaian pop act Mr Eazi.
The song became a huge success amidst Africans in diaspora both in Europe and the Americas.

Pana is a song by Nigerian artist Tekno. This song was a game changer for the singer. Pana was agreed by many as the biggest Nigerian song on 2016. Pana was a massive success continent-wide and a huge success internationally, Pana music video has tens of millions of views on YouTube

Africa’s best soul band released this song in 2017, the song already has tens of millions of views. Featuring Nigerian artist Patoranking. The song has become the most successful soul song Africa has had in a while and it’s been doing well overseas accepted and loved by every single melanin lover all over the world.
Particular – Major Lazer ft. Iceprince, Nasty C, Jiddenna, Patoranking
A dance hall Afrobeats song from the combination of different artists across Africa and America. The song Particula was released in 2017 by Major Lazer

This probably birthed and promoted the modern South African House Music.
“Khona” is a song by South African duo Mafikizolo. It was released as the first single from their eighth studio album, Reunited (2013). The song features additional vocals from Uhuru and was released by Kalawa Jazmee Records.
The song made the list of the top 10 African songs of 2013, peaking at number 1. Furthermore, the song peaked at number 1 on Afribiz’s Top 100 chart.
CARO – Wizkid ft. LAX
Caro is a 2013 single by Nigerian artists Wizkid and L.A.X. The song has done brilliantly well abroad amidst Africans in diaspora. It’s been revealed the song has a huge acceptance in the U.K, the song is definitely one of Wizkid’s biggest songs so far

Dance for me is a 2016 single by Ghanaian artist Eugy featuring Mr Eazi. This song is one of the biggest dance songs to come out of Africa in recent times.
